Scholarship Information : Research Assistant as Doctoral Researcher in Economics, Switzerland

The I-Lab (www.i-lab.ch is a joint initiative of the University of St. Gallen (Institute for Technology Management and Institute of Insurance Economics) and the ETH Zurich (Institute for Information Management and Institute for Pervasive Computing) and embedded in the international research network of the Auto-ID Labs. Research topics at the I-Lab are located within the triangle of “technology – innovation – insurance” and investigated in close cooperation with industrial partners. Thereby our main focus is the relationship between customer and insurance.

You will workindependently on specific projects, in cooperation with our industrial partners and our spin-off companies. As part of our team you take direct project responsibility and maintain close relationships with our research partners for instance the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Cambridge and leading research institutions in China and Japan.

Employment conditions, compensation and benefits are attractive and based on guidelines of the ETH Zurich. The average duration necessary for successfully obtaining a PhD is 3 1/2 years.

If you are fascinated by the described tasks, the cooperation in a highly motivated, young team and the academic debate in a start-up environment, you should meet the following requirements:

a degree in computer science or business engineering with a GPA (Grade Point Average) of at least 5.0 (according to a GPA of 2.0 and better in Germany and Austria); interest in mobile services, software development and technology-based innovation; work experience, preferably in foreign countries; self-confident appearance and high conceptual and communication skills; profound knowledge (written/ oral) in English and German
