Postdoc Position Scholarships for Hispanics in Mathematical/Computational Oncology

The Scholarships for Hispanics focus of this unit in the transdisciplinary use of mathematics and physics to model biological phenomena related cancer, to understand better the biological experiments and clinical trials.

Work location is Milan (Italy).

The Scholarships for Hispanics successful candidate will have to work on development, the spatio-temporal scale doubles, mathematics and computing realistic models for:

• Tumoral angiogenesis and anti-angiogenesis anti-tumour therapies;
• Tumour-Immune system interaction and immuno-therapies;
• Intracellular signal pathways of particular relevance for tumour development, growth and anti-tumour therapies.

The Scholarships for Hispanics interplay with biomedical researchers, involved both in clinical and in experimental research, will be an integral part of the post-doctoral work.

Requirements

• PhD in Physics or Theoretical Biology or Applied Mathematics;
• A good knowledge of biology;
• A solid background in both theoretical and computational aspects of mathematical biology.

Scholarships for Hispanics Although we are definitely not searching for a programmer, the candidate must have a good knowledge of computer programming, and of both matlab or mathematica software tools. We are looking for a highly motivated scientist who shares our passion for cutting edge research in theoretical biology of cancer.

The University of Texas Children’s Art Project Scholarship for Hispanics

The Scholarship for Hispanics is provided as encouragement, reward and enablement for the students chosen.The scholarship is for one academic year with a requirement that at least 18 hours total are completed for the Fall and Spring semesters. Summers are not counted. Scholarship for Hispanics Applicants must reapply for scholarship each year and may not receive assistance for more that a total of eight semesters (four years) of study.
The Scholarship for Hispanics applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 24 for Undergraduate and 21-30 for Graduate. The applicant must be a patient or former patient (before his/her 19th birthday) of The University of Texas M D Anderson Cancer Center. Applicants must have been admitted or plan to study at a United States regionally accredited or International recognized institution for the fall semester.
